India Unveils $50 Billion Semiconductor Manufacturing Hub in Gujarat

In a landmark move for India's technology sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the foundation stone ceremony for what will become the nation's largest semiconductor manufacturing hub in Dholera, Gujarat.

The $50 billion facility, developed in partnership with leading global chipmakers, is expected to begin production by 2028. Industry analysts have called this a pivotal moment for India's ambitions to become a global semiconductor powerhouse.

"This is not just an investment in technology — it is an investment in India's future," the Prime Minister said at the ceremony. The facility will initially focus on producing chips for automotive and telecommunications applications, with plans to expand into advanced AI processors.

The announcement comes amid global supply chain reshuffling, with nations seeking to diversify chip manufacturing away from concentration in East Asia. Several multinational corporations have already committed to establishing operations within the hub.
