Kashmir's Cultural Heritage in the Digital Age

The digital preservation of Kashmir's cultural heritage has entered a new phase with the involvement of major international institutions. Stanford University's Digital Repository, the British Library, and several Indian cultural organizations are collaborating to digitize centuries of Kashmiri cultural artifacts.

Newspaper archives spanning decades are being scanned, OCR-processed, and made searchable online. Historical photographs, folk music recordings, and literary manuscripts are being preserved in high-resolution digital formats.

"Every page we digitize is a page saved from oblivion," says archivist Dr. Farooq Abdullah. "These newspapers contain the first drafts of Kashmir's modern history, and making them accessible to researchers worldwide is invaluable."
