Arsenal Football Club have finally conquered Europe, winning the UEFA Champions League for the first time after a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Bayern Munich at Wembley Stadium.
The final, watched by an estimated global audience of 450 million, lived up to its billing as one of the greatest Champions League finals in recent memory. Arsenal took the lead through Bukayo Saka in the 34th minute, but Bayern equalized through Harry Kane just before half-time.
The second half was a masterclass in tactical chess. Kai Havertz restored Arsenal's lead in the 67th minute with a header from a corner kick, only for Jamal Musiala to equalize with a stunning long-range strike in the 82nd minute.
Extra time produced no further goals despite chances at both ends, and the match went to penalties. After nine perfect penalties, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard stepped up and slotted the winning kick into the bottom left corner, sending the Arsenal fans behind the goal into delirium.
