The film, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and featuring an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, has been praised for its meticulous production design, powerful performances, and nuanced handling of a complex historical period.
"Aamir has once again proved why he is called Mr. Perfectionist," said trade analyst Taran Adarsh. "The film's word-of-mouth has been phenomenal, with occupancy rates actually increasing in the third week."
International collections have been equally impressive, with the film earning $45 million across global markets. The Middle East, North America, and UK have been the strongest international territories.
The success of "The Last Emperor" continues Bollywood's strong 2026, which has seen several films cross the Rs 200 crore mark, signaling a robust recovery of the theatrical exhibition business.
