Indian IT giant Infosys has launched what it describes as the most advanced AI-powered software development platform in the enterprise market. Called "Infosys Helix," the platform can autonomously write, test, debug, and deploy enterprise application code across multiple programming languages and frameworks.
"Helix represents the future of software engineering," said Infosys CEO Salil Parekh during the launch event in Bangalore. "It doesn't replace developers — it supercharges them. Tasks that took weeks now take days. Tasks that took days now take hours."
The platform has been in beta testing with 50 Fortune 500 clients over the past year, and the results are striking. Infosys reports an average 60% reduction in development time, a 45% decrease in post-deployment bugs, and significant cost savings for clients.
Helix uses a proprietary large language model trained specifically on enterprise code patterns, compliance requirements, and security best practices. Unlike general-purpose coding assistants, it understands the complex interdependencies of large enterprise systems.
The launch has sent Infosys shares up 4.2%, and analysts believe it could drive significant new revenue growth. However, the platform has also reignited concerns about AI's impact on India's massive IT workforce of 5 million professionals.
