In love with pain

It also high time for the people of Pakistan as well t wake up rewrite their common narrative which should be based upon supporting freedom and liberty of the people anywhere in the world including Iran. It is imperative as such backward and retrogressive people would be dragging the rest of the world into the same sorry state

“Countries and states which have capital punishment have a much higher rate of murder and crime than countries that do not, so that makes sense to me, and the moral question - I struggle with it morally.”
Charlize Theron

Deriving pleasure out of pain and suffering inflicted on others is extreme savagery and despicable cruelty. Those who advocate harsh and inhumane punishments i.e. hanging/flogging in public and chopping off limbs etc. have, in their subconscious, developed a deep obsession with the pain (inflicted on others). These are the perverted minds that hate the victims and love the oppressors. In this age and time when the ideas of freedom, liberty and human dignity are being reshaped, in Pakistan, the popular discourse is still primitive and retrogressive.

This popular narrative not only glorifies Muslim oppressors of the past but equally eulogizes other fataheen (Conquerors) of the past ruthless dictators of today or recent past. These conquerors and dictators include Alexander, Gengiz Khan and Hitler. The remarkable thing about this glorification is that people in general know nothing about these characters except their ruthlessness and cruelty.

The incredible aspect of Pakistani society is that despite of being deeply engulfed by sectarian divide, they are equally in love with Iranian Mullah-cracy. They are totally oblivious of Iranian history, their glorious past and the present quagmire created by oppressive clerical regime in Iran. They are completely unaware of the sufferings if Iranian people meted out to them by so called Iranian Inqalab (Revolution) of Imam Khomeini and by his successor mullahs. But still they want similar sort of Inqalab in Pakistan and some iron-fisted dictator, exact replica of Imam Khomeini.

This popular narrative also believes that the harsh punishments introduced by Imam Khomeini and an indiscriminate and en-masse slaughtering/decapitating (gardenien ura dena) has made the Iranian nation a purely law-abiding and God-fearing society. Hence, to correct the things in Pakistan, same sort of prescription is absolute and final requirement of Pakistani society.

To understand this popular narrative and obsession with pain, we need to have a careful evaluation of the symptoms of Sadistic Personality Disorder (SPO) which is a pervasive pattern of cruel, demeaning, and aggressive behavior, beginning by early adulthood, as indicated by the repeated occurrence of at least four of the following: 1.     has used physical cruelty or violence for the purpose of establishing dominance in a relationship (not merely to achieve some non-interpersonal goal, such as striking someone in order to rob him/her).

Some more symptoms describe it as: 2.     Humiliates or demeans people in the presence of others. 3.     has treated or disciplined someone under his/her control unusually harshly. 4.     is amused by, or takes pleasure in, the psychological or physical  suffering of others (including animals). 5.     Has lied for the purpose of harming or inflicting pain on others (not merely to achieve some other goal). 6.     gets other people to do what he/she wants by frightening them (through intimidation or even terror). 7.     restricts the autonomy of people with whom he or she has a close relationship, e.g., will not let spouse leave the house unaccompanied or permit teenage daughter to attend social functions. 8.     is fascinated by violence, weapons, injury, or torture.

The above mentioned symptoms are evidentiary of the reality that the popular Pakistani narrative has deep roots in the collective SPO syndrome. In fact the holders of this narrative are not in love with Imam Khomeini or for that matter any other tyrant, they are actually in love with pain and suffering (of others.) The state of affairs of modern egalitarian societies clearly dictates that it’s not the harsh punishments but the rule of law, equality, freedom, justice and responsibility are the ingredients of a happy and forward looking society.

As far as the myths associated with so-called Iranian Revolution are concerned, reality is quite opposite as once vibrant Iranian society is now crippling under the weight of artless but cruel and corrupt mullah-regime. However, the really inspiring thing to watch is that Iranian intellectuals, writers, thinkers, poets, artists and academicians are not ready to get devoured by madness of mullah. Instead they are struggling to revive and to their glorious paste and legacy of the wonderful humanitarians of yore like Cyrus the Great and great poet and philosopher Ferdowsi.

The story of the so called Iranian Revolution should also be a lesson for today’s Pakistani apologists the mullah and Taliban. The communists and the Islamists buried their hatchets to “unify” the nation for a “common cause”, which was supposedly the achievement of democracy and political freedom. However, in reality, the communists were envisioning socialism and the Islamists were up to bring about religious fascism.

After overthrowing the Shah’s regime, the Mullah took control of the movement and they started to arrest and murder the communists and other opponents of the Mullah-cracy. Mullah took complete control of the state of Iran by committing extreme acts of cruelty to suppress and subdue their own people and hence, for the past 31 years, Iranian people have been kept hostage in their own county by a group of thugs in the garb of religion.

Those who are not yet disillusioned by the Iranian Mullah-cracy must also keep in mind that the Iranian people revolted against the oppressive dictatorship of Shah Reza Pahlavi, but they ended up within the clasp of a much more brutal and ruthless dictatorship, which is continually leading their nation into greater abyss. It is high time for the freedom lover people of Iran to stand up and reclaim their rich ancient culture.

It also high time for the people of Pakistan as well t wake up rewrite their common narrative which should be based upon supporting freedom and liberty of the people anywhere in the world including Iran. It is imperative as such backward and retrogressive people would be dragging the rest of the world into the same sorry state.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. proclaimed during his days in prison that “Injustice anywhere is threat to justice everywhere.” Hence, we must respect and regard liberty instead of veneration of oppression and subjugation. “It is within the open expanse of liberty that each and every person can be at his or her best. And when the individual person is at his best, humanity is at its best.” -Unknown
