Please help publish an essential Viewpoint!

Dear Readers, Sympathisers and Supporters!

Ever since its re-launching on 21st May 2010 as an e-zine, Viewpoint has become an important progressive outlet for Pakistani left and liberal voices.

Viewpoint is run by a team of volunteers and the content is largely contributed by volunteers. However, we do need to occasionally engage freelancers, meet the expenses to run our website, advertise on Facebook, Google etc. The expenses are met by the members of Viewpoint’s Redaktion.

At the time of launching Viewpoint Online, we decided and remain committed to the decision that Viewpoint would never accept donations from non-Pakistani donors, NGO-style. We want to depend on individual donations, both from inside and outside of Pakistan.

Also, we decided not to ask for donations until we have established ourselves as a regular online weekly. For the last two years, Viewpoint has been punctually posted every Friday morning. We vow to continue doing it. It is this punctuality, and enriching content often ignored in the mainstream, that attracts an average of 20000 visitors a month worldwide. Also, a Viewpoint article is e-mailed daily to over 100 thousand e-mail accounts.

However, becoming a real mass alternative to the country’s corporate media remains a distant though not impossible dream. Despite some humble achievements, we need to improve in both quantity and quality. That requires us to engage more free-lance workers and permanent staff. For that, we need your generous financial help. Those in the best position to help, please do so. Those in the worst position should not feel obliged. Please do what you can!
