110th Panthal Kesari dangal on Jan 14

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 5: Shri Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association, Panthal under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association.

is organizing “110th Panthal Kesari dangal 2010” (Wrestling competition) at Panthal in Udhampur on January 14 at 1 PM.

The decision to this effect was taken in the office chamber of the president J&K Indian Style Wrestling Associatioin, who is also treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India at Hotel Basera, Katra.

Tilak Raj (president), Rama Kant (Biju Shah) organizer, Rama Padha (Treasurer), Ved Parkash Padha, Kushal Kumar Magotra, Naryan Dutt, Sheshu Naggar, and Sunil Mengi were also present in the meeting.

Sharma said around 80 wrestlers from different states like Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, H.P, Chandigarh in addition to various parts of the state viz Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Rajouri, Doda, Buddal, Kalakote, Moungri Ramnagar, Roun-Domail, Panthal, Pouni, Reasi, Akhnoor, Panchari, Danmote, Panjar, Kalsote, Badota, Ladha, Jasserkote, Sudhmahadev, and Dansal .

are likely to participate in the dangal.

He said a notable feature of this dangal is that is being conducted regularly at Panthal for the last 110 years on the eve of Maker Sankranti day.

Sharma added we have decided to honour the best wrestler of the dangal who wins 1st malli as “Panthal Kesari 2010”.

He would be awarded traditional “silver Gurj and patta” in addition to handsome cash.

cash prize money for the 1st bout ( 1st Malli) Rs 12,000 and for the second malli is Rs 7,000.
