2 irrigation deptt staffers arrested in bribe case
KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Feb 3: State Vigilance Organization (SVO) has arrested two officials posted in the office of chief engineer irrigation and flood control and booked them for demanding and accepting bribe.
A spokesman of the SVO said that following the written complaint by Aijaz Maqbool, junior assistant in the irrigation division Handwara, the SVO registered a case vide FIR No 2/2005 under section 5(2) prevention of corruption act read with 161,120-B RPC against Mohammed Amin Baba, steno cum PA in the office of chief engineer irrigation and flood control and Abdul Satar Lone, section officer in the office of chief engineer irrigation and flood control.
He said both the officials have been arrested for demanding and accepting Rs 2000 as bribe.
The spokesman added that the complainant has been recently transferred from Handwara to Baramulla and had represented for modification of the transfer order to some convenient station.
