NEW DELHI, Oct 11 (Agencies): In the single largest recovery of shells in the capital so far, 219 of them were today found abandoned in south-west Delhi.

"Two hundred and nineteen shells, of which five are suspected to be live, were found abandoned in a gunny bag in Najafgarh area," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Deependra Pathak said.

He said National Security Guards (NSG) had been informed about the recovery and they would take possession of them soon.

The shells had probably been abandoned by some factory owner fearing police would search their premises.

Thirty-one shells had been found near Mayapuri in south-west Delhi last Friday.
