3 killed in Valley

KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Jan 4 : Three persons were killed in various militancy related incidents in Valley since last evening.

Police said militants gunned down Ghulam Rasool Khan, an employee of roads and buildings department, near his office at Safakadal here.

According to reports, the deceased belonged to Tengpora-Batamaloo and was an activist of PDP.

Khan was said to be close to PDP MLA Tariq Qarra.

Reports said unidentified gun men abducted and later killed local imam Mohammad Iqbal Khatana of Brasnoo at Halkhah-Chatergul.

Body of Shakeel Ahmad Rather of Rajouri was recovered from Meemandar Shopian.

He was working as a domestic servant in the village, reports said.

Militants hurled two grenades towards a CRPF camp at Nowhatta.

A grenade exploded while the other did not.

No damage was done in the explosion, police said.

Reports said ultras threw a grenade towards security forces near Budshah Chowk here this morning.

However, it did not explode.

It was later defused by the bomb disposal squad.
