4 kgs heroin seized in RS Pura
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, July 12: Border Security Force (BSF) claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle a huge consignment of drugs after arresting two persons and seized 4 Kilogram heroin, a high quality narcotic costing crores of rupees in the International market, from their possession near Abdullian Border out Post (BoP) along International Border in R S Pura sector today.
Official reports said that the consignment was reportedly handed over to a local resident of the area, who has hidden it somewhere near the zero line.
The consignment was being smuggled to this side of border this morning, when BSF personnel foiled the bid and arrested one person, while another managed to escape from the spot.
Giving details of the recovery, officials said that troops of BSF 129 Battalion BSF manning Abdullian BoP noticed a suspicious movement along the border fence this morning.
"One person was noticed throwing some packets from the other side of the fence", reports said adding the troops immediately swung into action and rounded up one of the suspects, while another managed to flee from the spot.
The packets, reports added, were later found to contain Heroin weighing four kilogram.
The accused, who was arrested on the spot has been identified as Rakesh Kumar son of Janak Raj of Abdullian.
An official handout issued by the Frontier Headquarter BSF Paloura Jammu said that troops of 129 battalion of BSF at border out post (BOP) Abdullian observed a person throwing packets from across the fence.
Another person, who was cutting grass this side, received the packets and started running towards the village Abdullian.
On seeing this, troops chased the man and recovered four pockets (one kg each) of heroin, worth Rs 4 crore in the International market, from his possession.
The apprehended person revealed his identity as Rakesh of same village, handout said, adding that he was later handed over to the Narcotic Control Bureau along with the heroin packets.
Sources, however, said that the man who threw the contraband was also detained later in the evening.
He has been identified as Ganesh Kumar, son of Bachan Lal of Abdullian.
Police has registered a case in this connection.
