Action committee formed in Shopian

KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, June 14: While normal life was paralysed for the 17th consecutive day today, an action committee was formed there to lead the ongoing agitation against the alleged rape and killing of a teenaged girl Asiya and her sister-in-law Nilofar.

The committee leaders made a plea to the people not to resort to stone pelting against police or any force.

The committee headed by Abdul Rashid Dal viewed that stopping violence against cops for imperative for speedy investigations into the case.

The committee leaders addressed the people at Jamia Masjid.

They announced to continue the strike till the guilty are not identified and punished.

Meanwhile, the people refused to meet some officers from divisional administration from Srinagar.

However, deputy commissioner Abdul Majid Khanday said he continues to be in touch with local people.
