Advani arrives at Lakhanpur

JAMMU, June 23 (UNI) BJP President L K Advani arrived here this afternoon to address a rally in memory of the sacrifice of Bharatiya Jan Sangh founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.

Advani is accompanied by party leaders Arun Jaitley, Shanta Kumar, cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, Prem Kumar Dhumal, Luxmi Kant Chawla, Prakash Chhabre and Madan Lal Khurana, besides state BJP leaders.

The BJP leaders arrived at Pathankote in a special aircraft and reached Lakhanpur, 20 km from Pathankote airport, amidst tight security at about 1235 hours.

Mukherjee had entered Jammu and Kashmir from Lakhanpur without permit in protest against the grant of special status to the state under special constitutional rights.

He had later died in custody.
