Aiyar to visit Turkey, Romania from June 28

NEW DELHI, Jun 23 (UNI) Back from his visit to Iran and Pakistan, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar will now lead a high-level business delegation to Turkey and Romania from June 28 to push forward the country's oil dealings.

On his three-day visit in Turkey, the Minister will address the TUSIAD International-CII Roundtable meeting.

The visit of the CII mission gains significance as Turkey is the gateway to the Middle East and Caspian petroleum and Central Asian Natural Gas, which is generally regarded as the future energy reserves of the world.

While in Turkey, the CII mission will have wide ranging discussions with Turkish business and government representatives and also meet Turkish Economy Bank Chairman Yavuz Canevi, and the representatives of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.

Indo-Turkish trade has recorded impressive growth, and during January-March 2005, India's export to Turkey increased by 29.8 per cent to 302.3 million dollars from 232.9 million dollars.

During the same period, Turkey's export to India recorded a growth of 61 per cent to 37,7 million dollars from 23.4 million dollars.

In Romania, the CII delegation will attend the Romania-India Business Forum, to be organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania and Bucharest.

The delegation will be in Romania from July 1 to 4.

Indian company representatives would make presentation on opportunities of cooperation particularly in the IT and oil and gas sector.

Romanian companies would also make presentations on their sectors of interest, and the CII delegation would project India's strong economic fundamentals.

The CII delegation would include, Shell Chairman Vikram Mehta, MD, Tata International MD Sudhir Deoras, MD, Sara Services & Engineers MD V K Dhawan, Petroleum Conservation Research Association Director A K Goel, EXIM Bank's N Ved, Essem Hitech Ltd Director Lalit Mattu, Ernst & Young Associate Director Ajay Arora, Tata Motors' Jayant Athawade and Saju A Joseph from Wipro, among others.
