NEW DELHI, June 11 (UNI) All India Congress general secretary Ambika Soni has resigned as a member of the Rajya Sabha, reportedly to make way for former Lok Sabha deputy speaker P M Sayeed who is now a union minister to enter the upper house.

Soni was a RS member from Delhi and still has about 18 months left of tenure.

Congress sources said that she would be nominated for the Rajya Sabha elections from Punjab.
