BCCI delegation to arrive in Lahore on Monday

ISLAMABAD, Feb 6 (Agencies) : The three-member Indian Cricket Board delegation would arrive in Lahore on Monday to finalise the venues and to review security arrangements for the historic series between the two sub-continent rivals beginning next month, Pakistan Cricket Board said today.

The PCB Spokesman Sami Ul Hassan told PTI here that the delegation would stay in the country for a week and visit all the possible venues to scrutinise the security arrangements.

Hassan said the delegation was scheduled to visit six venues _ Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi _ short listed by PCB to host the three Tests and five one-day internationals.

The BCCI security team arrives following apprehensions expressed by the Indian cricketers over security in Pakistan.

Last week, PCB Chief Shaharyar Khan had said that the schedule was almost finalised and would be made public after the BCCI team gave its approval to the venues and security arrangements.

He said as per the tentatively agreed schedule, the Indian team would arrive on March 4 with the first Test beginning on March 11 after a one-day warm up match in between.

Hassan said the venues would be finalised in consultation with the Indian security team.

The PCB proposed to host the matches in all its six cricket centres but two teams, South Africa and New Zealand, which toured Pakistan recently had avoided Karachi and Peshawar due to security concerns.

The PCB Chief himself is touring the venues ahead of the arrival of the BCCI team.
