Bemina Colony powerless

KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Jan 4: For the last four days Bemina Ibrahim Colony sector 1/A here has been plunged into darkness after the 630 KV electric transformer burst following a high voltage current transmitted by the receiving station.

Hundreds of residents of the colony have urged the PDD officials to repair the transformer and restore the electric supply to the area as quickly as possible.

They said that if electricity is not restored they will have no other alternative but to converge on roads and protest against the government.

Intizamia Committee of Masjid Ibrahim has taken a serious note of the callousness of the authorities and said that the law abiding residents of the area have paid their electric tariff but still the power blues haunt them from time to time.

A meeting of the office bearers of the Intizamia which represents the people of the whole area demanded that the electric transformer should be repaired at the earliest.

The residents have also urged the authorities to install a second transformer in the area as the present one is unable to bear the load.

They said that sanction of the second transformer is on the anvil and it has already been earmarked in this years works plan.

When contacted executive engineer of PDD Manzoor Ahmad said the matter would be looked into and efforts are afoot to restore electricity in the area.
