BJP to go all alone in LS elections: Nirmal
KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Feb 17: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today said that it will go alone in the Lok Sabha polls and will contest all the six seats in Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to media persons here, BJP state president Dr Nirmal Singh said that the party will field candidates on all the six parliamentary seats in the state.
Dr Singh said that they will not enter into alliance with anyone in the state.
"We are hopeful that we will emerge victorious in the Lok Sabha polls", he said.
The BJP state chief said that the good governance and "feel good factor" generated in Atal Behari Vajpayee's rule would be the main poll plan of the party in the state.
"Good governance in Vajpayee Ji's rule and his message would be carried through out the state.
We will highlight the achievements of the country in NDA's rule.
We are confident that people in the state will give us vote in the polls", he said.
Dr Singh also lambasted the PDP-led state government and said it has failed to deliver the goods.
He said the government was getting enough of finances from centre, but these have either utilized on wasteful expenditure or remain unutilized.
He said during the coalition government's rule the unemployment has risen in the state.
"People are fed up with the state government.
They have failed on all accounts.
There is unrest among youth because of the unemployment", he said and added that they would highlight the failures of the government and expose it before the people.
Meanwhile, preparations were in full swing for the first public rally to be addressed by BJP president M.Venkaih Naidu.
BJP workers were today busy in decorating the Sher-e-Kashmir park, the main venue of the rally.
They were erecting banners and buntings amidst tight security.
Security has been beefed up in and around the venue to keep the ultras at bay.
Additional police and para military forces have been deployed to maintain calm.
Police have set up check posts at different points where people are being frisked.
Random search of vehicles is also being conducted to keep ultras at bay.
