Bridge to connect Hamirpur Sidhar-Pargwal island soon: Speaker
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, June 7: Speaker Legislative Assembly Tara Chand announced that government is contemplating to construct a bridge over Chenab connecting Hamirpur Sidhar with Pargwal Island.
Speaking at a public meeting at Khour, Tara Chand asked the engineers to prepare a project report exploring the viability of construction of bridge alongwith cost estimates so that work can be started on the project.
Listing the rehabilitation measures initiated for the border migrants of Akhnoor area, the Speaker said that for the first time anywhere in the country a comprehensive package has been provided to border migrants under which plots were distributed free of cost alongwith cash relief of Rs.
50,000 each per family.
He said that government is also envisaging to provide financial assistance to people living in temporary 'kulhes' for construction of permanent pucca houses.
Under Power sector, Tara Chand informed that Rs.
30 crore power project at Kaleeth would be commissioned very soon improving the power scenario of the area.
Besides, he informed PDD have procured the requisite amount of poles and wires for electrification of all the unelectrified villages of Khour block.
Assuring his full commitment for reaching out the benefits of development and prosperity to the people of Khour, the Speaker said that 90 to 95 percent development works have been completed in all the sectors like PHE, PDD, Irrigation, Roads and Bridges, Education and Health adding that remaining 5 percent would also be completed very soon.
