Campaign for 33rd National Games launched

GUWAHATI, Oct 30 (UNI): Asom Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today ceremonially launched the - "100 Days to Go" campaign for coming 33rd National Games to be held here in February, 2007.

Gogoi also released the 33rd National Games Newsletter at a function held at the newly built Indira Gandhi Atheletics Stadium at Sorusajai, near here.

The highlight of the entire programme was presentation of cultural items by troupes of students from various schools.

The National Games song was rendered at the end of the programme.

Eminent actor Nipon Goswami appealed to the people to be present at the inaugural function of the 33rd National Games, exactly after 100 days from today.

Jalandhar, Sundergarh schools to meet in sub jr Nehru hockey NEW DELHI, Oct 30 (UNI): Government High School, Harnamdaspura (Jalandhar) will clash with Town High School, Sundergarh in the final of the 24th Sub-Junior Nehru Hockey tournament at the Shivaji stadium here tomorrow.

In the semi-finals today, the Jalandhar school beat GRM Senior Secondary School, Nagloi (Delhi) 2-0 with Prabhdeep Singh and Barjinder Singh scoring in the 39th and 44th minutes while the Sundergarh school got the better of Army Boys Sports College, Danapur 2-1.

Ernes Surin (9th minute) and Ignacis Toppo (55th) scored for Sundergarh while Punit Bhengra found the target for Danapur school in the 19th minute.

The 35th Junior Nehru Hockey tournament will also kick off tomorrow with White Eagle's School, Kutch, taking on NCC, Orissa, in the inaugural fixture.
