Chechen, Arab fighters among Taliban killed in US bombings
WASHINGTON, Oct 11 (UNI): Twenty eight soldiers of the Taliban Militia, including Chechen and Arab mercenaries, were killed yesterday in the United States air strikes in the strategically important town of Mazar-e-Sharif in Afghanistan, field commander of the Northern Alliance, general Dustum, said.
According to a Novosti report, Mr Dustum confirmed that the air strikes of the US rendered support to his forces which are launching an offensive on Mazar-e-Sharif.
Adding, he said his forces would not be able to seize the town without receiving additional armaments and ammunition.
The commander also said his forces were stationed 45 kms from Mazar-e-Sharif and were trying to seize the road leading to the town.
