Declare Doda a backward area: JD (U)

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Mar 15: J&K Pradesh Janata Dal (United) has demanded that Doda district be declared as backward area, in view of the area having remained neglected during last 56 years.

The party also demanded that backlog development works of the far-flung areas in the district be made operational through special development schemes.

The demands to this effect were made in one-day convention of the district Doda workers of JD (U).

Addressing the convention, Sanjesh Gupta, Pradesh President of the party demanded that the entire population of the district should be provided relief and rehabilitation package in view of the district remaining worst hit by terrorism for last 14 years.

He commended the people of the district for maintaining communal harmony, the release said.

The meeting was also addressed by dr AK Kharu, secretary general of the Pradesh unit of the party and Bashir Ahmed, president backward cell of the unit.

Meanwhile, Gupta appointed Amin as president of the district unit and Sher Singh as general secretary.
