Dy CM greets people on Shivratri

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 17 : Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma has greeted the people on Maha Shivratri.

In a message, Sharma said that the divine philosophy of Shivism underscores the need for righteousness, truth and compassion.

The best way to celebrate such festivals is to strive for fostering the bonds of amity and brotherhood and rid the society of all the tensions.

The Deputy Chief Minister hoped that the people, particularly the Kashmiri Pandits who observe the day as 'Heerath', would celebrate the festival with sobriety and religious fervour.

He prayed for peace and tranquility in the state.

Sinha has greeted the people on Maha Shivratri, hoping the festival would herald a new era of peace and tranquility in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a message, the Governor said though the people celebrate the festival with religious fervour and enthusiasm all over the country yet it has a special significance for Kashmiri Pandits who observe it as Heerath.

During the three-day festivity the Shivite Kashmiri Pandits hold special pujas in their homes, he said and hoped that Lord Shiva would hear their prayers for peace and complete normalcy in the state that has undergone a most traumatic phase.

Sinha exuded confidence that the people would celebrate Maha Sivratri in true spirit of the state's composite culture.

Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has felicitated the people on Mahashivratri.

In his message, the Chief Minister expressed the hope that the festival would be celebrated with devotion and religious fervour in the high traditions of composite culture of the state.

He said the occasion has an added importance for Kashmiri Pandits who celebrate it as Heerath.

The Chief Minister exuded confidence that the festival would usher in a new era of peace and amity in Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that Mahashivratri has a special significance this time as it is being celebrated in the backdrop of a firm hope for lasting peace and normalcy in the state.Mufti Sayeed prayed for the well-being of the people of the state.

Revised calendar for LA KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 17 : The 5th session of the 10th Legislative Assembly will culminate on March 5, 2004.

As per the revised calendar issued by Speaker Legislative Assembly, Tara Chand, discussion on motion of thanks on Governor's address will be held in two sittings on February 17 and 19, while as annual financial statement of expenditure for the year 2004-05 and supplementary statement of expenditure would be presented on February 20.

Government business would be conducted on Saturday February 21.

The general discussion on budget and reply thereof would be held in two sittings on Sunday, February 22.

Likewise, the demand for grants for different departments would be held from February 23 to March Ist in two sittings each day, with Sunday February 29, as holiday.

Private Member Resolution and Bills would be presented on 3rd and 4th March besides any leftover government business would be conducted on Friday March 5.
