Enquiry against 11 docs for prescribing 'Amway' products

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 2 : Warning doctors to strictly adhere to the principles of medical jurisprudence, Health Minister Ch.

Lal Singh today said that preliminary enquiry is being conducted against 11 doctors who were reportedly indulging in prescribing 'Amway' products especially iron tonics to the patients.

Singh disclosed that the investigation was being conducted on the basis of unanimous letter addressed to him that detailed the names of 11 doctors indulged in the malpractice.

The Minister said that all these doctors were summoned and have also tendered apology to him and revealed that it was on the instructions of some senior consultants, that they were prescribing 'Amway' products to patients for boosting Amway trade.

Singh said that the nexus of doctors with Amway would soon be broken and punitive action against senior doctors would follow.

' Medicos playing with the lives of patients for monitory and peculiar gains, is intolerable and calls for stringent action.

It is morally, ethically and otherwise also a crime against humanity', Singh maintained.
