Everester Ram Singh again makes JKP proud, scale Kailash Peak
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Oct 8: Everester Sub-Inspector, Ram Singh has made the Jammu and Kashmir Police proud by leading an Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) expedition team to Kailash Peak in Himachal Pradesh on September 22.
It was after a long gap of over 30 years that any mountaineering team from the country has climbed the prestigious peak, which is considered to be a technically tough expedition.
“The last time any team successfully climbed the Kailash Peak was of Indian Army expedition led by Col.
N Kumar in 1978.
And, now after a gap of over 30 years that IMF sent its 18-member team to scale the peak.
However, out of 18 mountaineers, only 12 could successfully make it to the summit,” Ram Singh told Continuously on move for the last over four months, meeting different challenges, this man from Gurah Salathian is a tough guy to beat.
From rescue operations during Amarnath Yatra to conducting basic course to the J&K Police cops, Ram Singh is successfully doing the tasks assigned to him within the state and outside.
“Before taking up the IMF assignment of scaling Kailash Peak, I successfully led a J&K Police team to famous Kuli peak in Pahalgam region of the state on August 15.
The 20-day long expedition was an accident free experience for the entire police team,” informed Ram Singh, who has 20 such successful expeditions to his credit.
Likewise, Kailash Peak, it was again after a gap of 30 years that any team in the country made an attempt at Kuli.
“As per the records available with Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering (JIM), the last time popular Kuli peak of the state was successfully climbed by a Japanese team in 1978.
And, now after a gap of 30 years, J&K Police took the challenge to attain the goal under the guidance of our adventure lover Director General, Kuldeep Khoda,” maintains Singh.
