Former minister sent in judicial custody

PATNA, Jun 16 (UNI) A special CBI court today sent former Bihar road construction minister Mohammed Ilyas Hussain to judicial custody till June 28 in connection with the multi-crore bitumen scam.

Earlier, special CBI judge Ramanand Sharma rejected the bail petition of Hussain, who surrendered before the court during the day.

The case is related to bunglings in supply of bitumen worth nearly Rs 38 lakh under Supaul division of Road Construction department in 1996.

The CBI has already filed chargesheets against Hussain and seven others in the case.
