Gajjar lone Indian in Semis

PUNE, Oct 8 (UNI): Rohan Gajjar will be the lone Indian in action in the semi-finals, as his four other compatriots crashed out of the 15000 dollar Deccan Gymkhana-ITF Tennis Futures here today.

Karan Rastogi, Rupesh Roy, Ranjit Virali, Murugesan and Vijayant Malik fell by the wayside as top seeds Daniel King Turner, second seed Alexander Satschko and fourth seed Young Jun Kim of Korea completed the last four line-up.

Rohan Gajjar displayed aggression to overpower Vijayant Malik 6-0, 6-3 in a 54 minute tussle.

In the semi-finals, Gajjar will take on the 323rd ranked Satschko.

Satschko played solid tennis to outplay fifth seed Murugesan 6-1, 6-3 while 317th ranked New Zealand Davis Cupper Daniel King Turner spoilt the winning run of birthday boy Karan Rastogi, stopping him 6-3,6-2 in a 1 hr 5 minute match.

Turner will take on Kim Young Jun, who was given a fright by eighth seed Rupesh Roy.

The Korean won the match 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in 102 minutes .

Gajjar, along with Purav Raja, also made it to the men's doubles final.

In the semi-finals, the pair managed to scrape past Mithun Murali and N Vijay Sundar Prasanth 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.

Divij Sharan and Vishnu Vardhan survived two match points to get past Abhijeet Tiwari and Akash Wagh 6-1,6-7(8-6) 10-6 in the other semifinals.
