Gloomer days ahead with world economy shrinking

A World Economic Forum (WEF) global competitiveness report for 2001, which covers 75 countries, and also takes into account the shocks of 11 September, shows that in the short run the terrorist attacks have worked as a catalyst to push the world economy into a recession more quickly.

The toll on overall growth competitiveness has pushed Indias ranking down sharply from 48 to 57.
