Health sector gets new impetus: Mangat
KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, July 22: Asserting that peace is imperative for development of the state, the Minister for Health and Medical Education Pt.
Mangat Ram Sharma has said that government is committed to take the ongoing peace process to its logical conclusion adding that a multipronged strategy has been adopted to address issues on political, economic and social fronts for not only bringing complete normalcy but also to push forward the Jammu and Kashmir towards the new era of development.
Addressing a large gathering at Bomi Sopore today after laying foundations of hospital buildings at Bomi and Dangerpora which would be completed at the total cost of Rs.
He also inaugurated new type of primary health centre complex at Tujarsharief Sopore which has been completed at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore.
The hospital has all modern medicare facilities with 10-bedded strength and would provide healthcare facilities to about 20000 population of the area at their doorsteps.
Minister for School Education Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Minister for Roads and Buildings Mr.
Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman Handicrafts Development Corporation and MLA Sopore Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Director Health Services Kashmir Dr.
Muzaffar and other district officers were present on the occasions.
He said Jammu and Kashmir is one of the 18 high focus states under national rural health mission (NRHM).
He said 5 district hospitals, 22 CHCs and 91 PHCs have operationalized under Rogi Kalayana Samitis and 9500 accredited social health activitists were trained (ASHA).
He said government was in process for procurement of the ASHA drug kits.
He said under the NRHM all the PHCs would be provided 3 staff nurses and 70 CHCs be upgraded as IPHS and added that all district hospitals have been made functional as first referral units.
Seven springs in Rafiabad to be harvested: Dilawar KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, July 22: Government would explore all possibilities to further expand the reach of multicare Hi-Lift Irrigation Scheme, Lodoora to provide hither to un-covered areas of Rawoocha, Soin Sadrar, Bakipora, Fidarpora, Manchanpora and yarbug in Rafiabad with assured and adequate irrigation water for agriculture and horticulture promotion.
Concerned authorities would conduct a detailed techno-feasibility report for the purpose.
This was stated by the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr.
Mohammad Dilawar Mir while talking to a deputation of Rawooch, which called on him this morning to apprise the Minister about some burning problems in the area.
The Minister said in addition to providing Irrigation water to water scarcity areas from Hi-Lift Irrigation project source, special schemes to be funded by the union government would be implemented in these areas for rain water harvesting in the area.
He said that adequate funds would be made available to harness spring water to augment drinking water supply in Rawoocha area adding that all the seven springs in Rawoocha would be exploited optimally for the purpose.
Deputation from Ladoora, Nowgam, Achabal also called on the Minister and sought redressal of their grievances.
The Minister gave a patient hearing and issued on the spot directions to solve some of the problems put forth by the deputationists.
