Hurriyat flays extended detention of govt employees
KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Mar 2: Hurriyat Conference (G) leader and the president of employees movement, Mohammad Shafi Lone has expressed his concern over the persistent detention and plight of some government employees "who have been languishing in jails under baseless accusations".
A spokesman of Hurriyat (G) said that Lone has castigated the Mufti government for what he called retracting on his promise of not putting the innocent people behind the bars.
He said that he did not keep his promise and said that no innocent has been set free so far.
Lone said that the government was asked several times to hold an official inquiry into such cases but it never paid any heed, said the spokesman.
He has said the majority of the detained employees are scholars and teachers.
He said that they are being provided adulterated food materials which has affected their health and the irony is that they are not being given medical treatment.
He has also alleged that they are not produced before the court for attending their trials due to which their cases are still pending in courts.
He has appealed to the human rights organizations to take note of this fact and use their influence for the release of these innocent prisoners.
