Hurriyat (G) flays Omar's remarks
KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Jan 12: Ayaz Akbar, spokesman of Hurriyat Conference (G), today strongly reacted to the remarks of National Conference (NC) president Omar Abdullah against chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Omar in an interview with a news agency had alleged that Geelani got job for his son during governor's rule and handed over guns to the children of poor.
In a statement, Ayaz described NC president's remarks as the outcome of psychological anxiety.
"The NC leadership suffers from inferiority complex when they compare themselves with the boldness, firmness and steadfastness of Geelani sahib.
The guilt of burying the plebiscite movement is taking its toll on NC leaders, who have become frustrated," he said The Hurriyat (G) spokesman said instead of Kashmir, Omar's relations are with Europe, Delhi and Punjab.
While the five lakh people who laid down their lives for the movement are close to Geelani's heart and are his relatives as they were Kashmiri Muslims.
Ayaz asked Omar to disclose the name of Geelani's son who got government job during governor's rule.
"We know his son who despite being highly qualified and having DFO training was denied job as he is the son of Geelani sahib," he said.
The Hurriyat (G) spokesman said NC president must be remembering well that when his grandfather Sheikh Abdullah was in jail, his sons were enjoying life in Europe and studying there.
"When Geelani sahib was in jail, his son was hiding from task force and Ikhwanis and was finally forced to migrate from his home.
Missile and rocket attacks were carried out at Geelani sahibs's residence to kill him and his family members.
If they survived, it is only God who protected them," he said.
