ICELA urges for formation of environment forest policy

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Sep 16: Indian Council for Enviro Legal Action (ICELA) urged for formulation of environment and forest policy in Jammu and Kashmir to increase green cover and preserve eco balance.

A meeting was held today by ICELA in connection with the observance of world ozone day.

State convener ICELA Ashok Sharma pleaded for promoting ozone friendly technology and checking emissions of gases that are thinning the nature's protective cover to save world from harmful effects of ultra violet sun rays.

He also claimed that the speedier thinning of ozone layer is a matter of great concern and one and all should contribute for reversing this trend.

Sharma said that awareness in this connection will help in preserving life on the planet earth.

ICELA would organise awareness camps, group discussions, intellectual meets, quizzes and painting competitions in the state.

Prominent among those who participated in the meeting include J D Singh, Dr Bharat Bhushan, Dr Bhawa, V K Chandan, M Y Mughal, Subash Sharma, Dr Bharat Bhushan, M S Jamwal, Kailash Nath, Sanjeev Mangu, Naresh Sharma, P R Shan and others.
