Imran to visit Kashmir soon
NEW DELHI, Nov 5 (UNI) Pakistani cricketing legend Imran Khan willsoon visit Kashmir as India has agreed to grant him permission to tour the Valley.
"I am extremely grateful to External Affairs Minister K NatwarSingh.
He has assured me and agreed that the Indian government willgrant me permission to visit Kashmir,"Khan told reporters here.
"I am so happy and enthusiastic about the visit...It is mychildhood dream.
My parents used to visit Kashmir before partition.My mother used to tell me a lot about the place," he said.
who is also the founder of Tehreek-e-Insaaf (Movementof Justice) Party, is in the capital to participate in the two-dayConference on"India and the World - A Blueprint for Partnership and Growth" organised by the Hindustan Times under the HindustanTimes Leadership Initiative.
The former Pakistan cricket captain said he has been invited several times by Kashmir University and other friends to visit the Valley.
"But there have been many hurdles...Now, as the Indian government has given the clearance, I will speak to them and then plan the visit," he added.
Khan said his visit will definitely send positive signalsto the people of Pakistan and called for more such exchanges.
"It is better if people like me visit Jammu and Kashmir rather than the cricket team," he said when asked if the Pakistani cricket team could play a match there.
