Jamali instructs administration to gear up for Indo-Pak series

ISLAMABAD, Feb 16 (UNI) Hailing New Delhi's decision to clear India's full tour of Pakistan in one-and-a-half decade, prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has directed the administration to gear up for extending a foolproof security to the visitors during the series.

According to English daily The News, the prime minister has directed that the Governors or Chief Ministers of the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), Punjab and Sindh would head provincial adhoc-committees which will monitor security, administrative and other aspects of the tour.

The committees would consist of sub-committees for security, administrative and media matters, it said.

To help these committees, Jamali had asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to set up control rooms at the local headquarters, the reoprts said.

The prime minister has also directed the ministries of foreign affairs and interior to facilitate the process of issuing visas to Indian spectators.

"There should be no free entry into cricket stadiums and it should be strictly through tickets only.

A special team should be appointed to monitor the stadium entrance to prevent ticket-less persons to avoid any chaos and confusion," Jamali was quoted as saying to the organisers.

Meanwhile, according to an APP report, the prime minister has made it clear that he wanted security arrangements to be at a level even higher than what it was during South Africa's visit.

Though police would have the primary responsibility for security, other law enforcement agencies should help the police excercise its duty, he instructed.
