J&K Bank routs JKP(B), moves into semis

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 5: Jammu and Kashmir Bank today qualified for the semifinals defeating Jammu and Kashmir Police (B) in the Christmas Cup Football tie played at GGM Science College grounds here.

At the end of lemon break, JKB was leading by one goal which was scored by Ibrahim Badru in the 37th minute.

The second goal was converted by Bawa Lapcha in the 53rd minute.

Later, after two minute, Rohit Kumar netted a field goal.

The fourth goal was pumped by Ibrahim Badru in the 75th minute.

JKB won match by 4-0 goals.

Abdul Karim, Intikhab and Khalid were the three footballers of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank were awarded yellow card by the centre referee in the match.

In the other match, SRTC routed Vijay Club in the tie breaker by 3-2 goals.

Both teams could not open their account in the stipulated time.

It was decided to apply tie breaker rules where in Zahoor, Rafiq and Rayees from SRTC successfully converted their penalty kicks into goals.

For Vijay Club, Manoj Kumar and Pankaj Kumar finished their penalty kicks into the net.

SRTC won match by 3-2 goals and booked their place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Hilal Ahmed, Mohd Shafi, Ricky, Clint Mattoo, Nissar Ahmed were the officials of today’s match.

Those who witnessed match were RK Kohli, Dr Nirmolak Singh, SM Gill, Fayaz Ahmed Sofi, Mohan Lal and others.

NEXT MATCH (Quarterfinals): J&K Police to face SRTC XI at 1 pm while Jammu Sports-A to meet Amritsar Academy Punjab at 2.30 pm tomorrow.
