JKP Inter-zone sports meet from Mar 27 : DGP
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Mar 25: Around 816 participants comprising of 612 men and 204 women are participating in the Inter-Zonal sports meet of J&K Police to be held from March 27 to April 1 at Gulshan Grounds here.
Addressing media persons, Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda said that in this state level event, athletes from all over the state representing different wings of the police, including those CID, Traffic, Armed and Auxiliary, Armed, Jammu Zone and Kashmir Zone.
These athletes will take part in the basketball, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, handball, tug-of war, athletics, boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, archery, shooting, hockey, and football.
Besides, gazetted officers will chance their arms in badminton, Lawn Tennis and Table Tennis.
Khoda told in order to promote sports culture in the state, exploit the talent of the youth and inculcate the discipline and camaraderie and above all physical fitness amongst the personnel force , J&K Police has been organising various sports events in the state every year and the process is on to introduce more result oriented sports events in our exercise .
Besides, J&K Police have been hosting several national sports events right from origin of its.
The opening ceremony of the said meet is going to be held at Gulshan Ground here on March 27, at 4:45 PM and would conclude on April 1, he added.
Armed Police will defend title in the tournament.
Those were present including ADGP CID K Rajindera, IGPS Owais Ahmed, Dilbag Singh and others senior police officers.
