Kakroo elected president KAS officers association
KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, July 9: Meraj Ahmad Kakroo, special secretary to the chief secretary has been elected as the president of the Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officers association.
He got 229 votes out of the 242 votes and defeated his nearest rival Abdul Rashid Dar who managed 12 votes.
In a statement issued here by the association, Hemant Kumar Sharma, Joint Transport Commissioner was elected as general secretary managing 146 votes, while as his close rival Farooq Ahmad Renzu, Joint Director Information, Kashmir secured 94 votes.
G N Sofi, Special Secretary Agriculture, B A Jan, Additional Secretary Information and Zubair Ahmad Deputy Secretary were elected unopposed to the posts of Vice President, Treasurer and Publicity Secretary respectively.
In addition, 10 other consellors were also elected on this occasion.
Speaking on this occasion, the newly elected president said that he would work for the dignity of the service and he asked the other office bearers to lend him a helping hand in this regard.
He added that he would try to come up to the expectations of the people as well as the other officers.
