Karnataka lifts Jr National title

MANDYA, Jan 10 (UNI): Karnataka today lifted the 46th Junior National Football Championship Trophy defeating Orissa 2-0 in the finals played at M V Stadium here today.

After drawing a blank at breather, Vinot Kumar opened the account in the 50th minute by netting and the lead was increased by Shankar who encashed penalty awarded in the 63rd minute.

Orissa, which had thrashed defending champions Jharkhand in the semifinal encounter, failed to keep up their tempo and did not open account despite ample opportunity in the first half.

Hosts, who adopted attacking game right from the beginning, encashed the opportunity coming their way and proved supremacy by thrashing visitors.
