Kashmir Chamber flays low CDR
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, June 18: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) have expressed disappointment over functioning of various banks, financial institutions and government for not financing tourism, trade and industry in valley.
As per a release, KCCI regretted that J&K Bank never made public its Credit Deposit Ratio (CDR) with special reference to valley.
KCCI said that it has come to know that CDR of J&K Bank for valley is mere ten percent and 31 percent for the entire state.
KCCI has also refuted that credit absorption in valley is very low and loan repayment is not upto the mark.
Comparing repayment of loans by the borrowers in Kashmir with borrowers outside the state, KCCI said that borrowers in valley are better paymasters but advances made to the tune of ten percent in relation to the deposits are in the form of consumer loans, which does not contribute to the productivity sector of valley.
KCCI hoped that banks would take note of this fact and will be liberal in reviving the economy by financing various sectors of commercial activities of valley.
