Local youth to get jobs in hydel projects: Mufti
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 17 : Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that the government has issued instructions for engaging local youth for manning both skilled and unskilled jobs in hydel power and other projects in Jammu and Kashmir.
Interacting with a deputation from Uri here this evening, the Chief Minister said that he has asked the Chief Engineer NHPC Uri for giving requirement so that the local manpower is trained in those trades to meet the requirement in the project.
Mufti Sayeed said that Uri road is being upgraded and wayside facilities created in a big way in run up to the opening of Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road.
Uri town is also being given a major facelift for the purpose, he added.
Interacting with another deputation from Dogripora, Pulwama, the Chief Minister assured that their demand for upgrading the local middle school to the high school level and augmenting water supply would be addressed on priority.
A deputation from Lidermarh, Pulwama urged Mufti Sayeed for upgrading the local primary school to the middle school level and appointment of local youth as teachers.
He said that the demands would be considered sympathetically.
Another deputation of evacuee property tenants welfare society led by Shanti Devi, MLA apprised the Chief Minister about their proble He said that appropriate instructions would be issued to the concerned authorities to examine the demands.
A deputation of Kashmiri migrants requested the Chief Minister to provide separate relief to the bifurcated families of the retired migrant employees.
He said the matter would be examined for follow up action.
Kalam inaugurates global Buddhist meet at New Delhi 5 J&K delegates led by MoS attend KT NEWS SERVICE NEW DELHI, Feb 17 : President of India, A.P.J.Abdul Kalam inaugurated first ever 3-day International conclave on Buddhism and spiritual Tourism at Vigyan Bhavan today.
He delivered Presidential speech on the occasion and distributedc momentous among all the spiritual leaders.
Union Ministries of Tourism and Culture, Civil Aviation in collaboration with J&K Tourism departmernt organized the conclave.
Over 400 delegates from all over the globe and 50 from Jammu and Kashmir which include spiritual leaders, prominent personalities of Ladakh and social workers attended the conlclave which was aimed at bringing Buddhist spiritual leaders, monks and others together.
J & K delegaytion comprising Chairman LAHDC, Thupstan Chewang, President, Ladakh Buddhists Association, Tsering Samphel and president Muslim Association of Laldakh, Mohammad Shafi Lasoo and other religious and social organizations was headed by Minister of state for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Mir on this occasion laudd the role of organisors of the conclave on Buddhism.
He lsaid that such opportunities reveal the rich cultural heritage of the state and alsos give a chance of promotion of destinations associated with Buddhism in India.
He hoped that varied aspects of Buddhism, its architectural splendor, literaryu treasures and its life transforming philosophy developed centuries ago would be highlighted during the conclave.
The Minister also appreciated the presentation of traditional decoration 'Mandala' designed by the renowned Buddhist monks drawn mostly from Ladakh.
He said that the Mandala would be great focus of attention during the 3-day Conclave.
He was told that the designers have recreated a story of Buddha's enlightenment and kthe rest of the exhibits frfom the mandala, prayer wheel to NatGeo photographer Steve McCurry's photo exhibition are a big draw.
Minister for Tourism and Culture, Jagmohan presented an introductory note on International Conclave on Buddhism.
His Holiness the Dalia Lama also addressed on the occasion.
Earlier, Secretary Tourism Union Government, Rathi Venayjha welcomed the guests.
