MUMBAI, Apr 27 (UNI): The condition of senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan seeto be showing signs of improvement on day six at the Hinduja Hospital here as his dependence on drugs to control his blood pressure is gradually coming down.

Hospital spokesperson Dr Anupam Verma in the morning bulletin on Mahajan's condition said, "Pramod Mahajan continues to be critical but stable ....

requirement of the drugs for BP control is coming down gradually.

He continues to remain on ventilators and continuous renal replacement therapy (dialysis) in the ICU." Mahajan's requirement of ionotropic drugs, required to strengthen the contraction of heart muscles, has been gradually coming down.

Fifty six-year-old Mahajan's vital parameters had been unstable since Sunday evening when doctors had to perform a second surgery to manage his poorly functioning kidneys, replace packs to stop bleeding from his liver and drain out fluids and toxins from his abdomen.

The first surgery was conducted on Saturday morning soon after he was shot from point-blank range, allegedly by his younger brother Pravin.

Three bullets, still embedded in his body, had shattered his liver, head of pancreas and small intestine.
