Major tragedy averted in Chadoora

KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Feb 9: A major tragedy was averted last night when the residents of the Zoohama Khandaypora, Chadoora area put out the fire which was caused after a snag had developed in local electricity transformer.

The transformer caught fire and it threatened to engulf the entire area.

"It was after three months that our transformer was returned after being set right and it worked properly for just a few days" said Abdul Aziz one of the residents.

It is important to mention here that the transformer of the area had got damaged three months back and although it was returned some times during these three months, but on each time it has to be returned as it was not set right as it developed snag after being re-commissioned after being repaired.

"Had we not put out the fire, it would have engulfed the entire area" said one of the residents while narrating the tale of the damaged transformer.

The residents of the area also claim that sparks were seen while the fire on the transformer was being put out.
