Man loses bag with important documents

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: A man lost his bag carrying a cheque book, share certificates and other valuable documents while traveling in a matador in Gandhi Nagar area on January 14, 2008.

A complaint in this regard has been lodged in Police Station Gandhi Nagar by the owner of the bag Chander Gupta, son of Sain Das resident of House number 85, Nanak Nagar Jammu.

He in his complaint to police informed that a bag carrying the cheque book of SB number 3431 bearing cheques number 603731 to 603740 (some of which were signed), share certificates of Chambel Fertilizer Limited and other valuable documents were misplaced by him while traveling in a minibus on January 14, 2008 in Gandhi Nagar area.

Police has taken cognizance of the complaint.

JD(s) urges salaries for SPOs KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan21: Senior vice president of Janta Dal (secular) Mast Nath Yogi has urged the government to pay regular salaries, uniforms and vehicle allowance for Special Police Officers.

As per a press release, Yogi said that SPO served in militancy prone areas and faced lot of hardships and government did not pay heed to their demands and problems which caused resentment in them.

He appealed to Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to personally look into the matter and issued directions to the concerned authorities for the release of their salaries.

Seerat Committee Pochhal constituted KT NEWS SERVICE KISHTWAR, Jan 21: Residents of Pochhal constituted Seerat Committee Pochhal for the welfare of Muslim community.

In a meeting of residents of the area, the unanimously elected body included Haji Ghulam Abbas Giri as president, Mohammed Munawar Butt as vice president, Firdous Ahmed Giri as general secretary, Tariq Hussain Giri as deputy secretary and Aijaz Ahmed Giri as cashier.

Similarly the other members of the Committee included Aziz Mohammed Butt, Sabdar Ali, Abdul Salam Butt, Nazir Ahmed Kichloo, Javed Ahmed Giri, Zakir Hussain Giri, Mehraj-ud-Din, Ghulam Qadir, Farooq Ahmed Butt and Haji Ghulam Ali Ganaie.

'Nominate Azad as PCC president' KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Jan 21: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Srinagar appealed All India Congress president, Sonia Gandhi to nominate Ghulam Nabi Azad as PCC president.

In a meeting of the Committee held under the chairmanship of PCC general secretary, Mohammed Abdullah Nadaf, speakers said that only Azad has the efficiency to lead the organization.

Among others who participated in the meeting included district president, Gulzar Ahmed Wani, district president Mohalla, Shaheena Needa and block president, Nazir Shabnam.

Separate ISM directorate for Jammu sought KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: A deputation of Medical Officers (ISM) Welfare Forum met the Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mangat Ram Sharma and demanded bifurcation of Directorate of ISM and establishment of separate directorate of ISM for Jammu province.

The deputation was led by its president, Dr.

Deputation also demanded filling up of vacant posts of ADMO in newly created districts of the state.

They also demanded release of time bound promotion, improvement in medicines supplies, reorganization of the ISM department, creation of the posts of the pharmacists for the 45 upgraded dispensaries, uniform staff pattern for ISM dispensaries, rationalization of medicine purchase and construction of dispensary buildings and residential quarters for ISM doctors.

Dy Advocate General's death condoled KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: Members of All J&K Dalit Chetna Manch expressed shock over the demise of the deputy Advocate General, Ajit Singh Dogra.

In a meeting of the Manch held under the chairmanship of M R Bhagat, speakers said that it is a great loss for the weaker section of the society as his death created avoid which can't be filled in the future.

All the members prayed to the Almighty for the peace to the departed soul and also expressed their heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.

Members of the Sabha also observed two minutes silence and prayed for the departed soul.

They also expressed their heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.

Bhagat urged the state government to do justice with the bereaved family.

BJP workers conference KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: A day-long workers conference of Bhartiya Janta Party was held under the leadership of Raj Singh at Bishnah today.

Chand Prakash vice president and Ajay Jamwal secretary of Bishnah block were the chief guests on the occasion.

Jammu actress plays lead role in Star Plus serial KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: Noted theatre artist Anjali Abrol has become the first actress from Jammu to feature in Star Plus serial "Raja Ki Ayegi Barrat" which went on air today.

Anjali, who had played leading role in Balwant Thakur's highly acclaimed Dogri play "Dulhan", is playing a lead role of a young girl in serial "Raja Ki Ayegi Barrat" who aspires to be the princes.

She has worked in Natrang Theatre for atleast four years and acted in over eight plays which included "Bawa Jitto", "Holi", "Kanjoos" and "Ghumayee" besides performing in various national theatre festivals.

To celebrate the success, Natrang organized a function which marked the featuring of an audio and visual on Anjali's prominent roles in Natrang's plays at Natrang Studio Theatre.

Listing the successes of Natrang, Balwant Thakur, the Director Natrang while speaking during the function informed that earlier too Bhanu Goswami played the lead role in a daily soup "Special Squad", Juhi Singh in a bollywood film "Yahaan" and Neelu Dogra in "Crime Patrol".

He further informed that inspired by such success stories, Natrang is planning to start a separate acting course for the young aspirants soon.

JKAACL organizes music competition KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21 : Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized four day on-the-spot music competition which was inaugurated by Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Dr Rafeeq Masoodi.

In the competition four categories of children participated including Infant Group, Junior Group, Senior Group and Amateur Group.

The competition was for Vocal, Light and Folk, Vocal Classical and Instrumental music.

Today Music competition in the category of Infant Group was held in which about 65 children from various Schools/NGOs/Individuals participated.

While welcoming the participants, Dr.

Rafeeq Masoodi congratulated the teachers/parents for bringing their children in large number for the competition.

He said that such competitions can expose the hidden talent of the budding artists and also achieve self confidence.

He hoped that during these four days competition children will demonstrate their talent in a befitting manner so as to come up to the expectations of judges.

JKJMD elects body KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: JK Janata Morcha for Democracy (JKJMD) a non political organization today unanimously announced SR Sudhir as its president.

Sudhir was elected as president for the second consecutive time in a meeting held here today.

Among other executive members who were elected in the organization included Choudhary Salamatullah as vice president, Prof Parmanand Shastri as general secretary, Sudesh Raina as chief organizer and Romesh Gandotra as treasurer.

PTA seeks uniform transfer policy KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: Provincial Teachers Association (PTA), a wing of All J&K Low Paid Government Employees Association has criticized the state government for not redressing the long pending grievances of teachers.

Addressing a rally at Surankote, senior vice president of the PTA alleged that the concerned authorities were not giving due attention to their grievances.

He demanded uniform transfer policy besides time bound dispensation of the salaries.

He also criticised the Department of Education for not paying wages to the education volunteers engaged under EGS.

Meanwhile, Secretary, PTA Abdul Majid Khan while addressing the rally demanded interim relief to the tune of Rs 1001 per month and medical allowance of Rs 500 to the employees till the implementation of recommendations by 6th Pay Commission.

Mohammed Bashir and Abdul Majid Khatana also spoke on the occasion.

Budget proposals "jugglery of figures" : Khan KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: President All J&K Low Paid Employees Association, Abdul Majid Khan has described the current budget proposals as "jugglery of figures to hoodwink common masses." As per a press statement, Khan said that needs and aspirations of state employees, pensioners, clerks, class IV employees, ReT teachers, education volunteers, home guard personnel, PHE workers, Anganwari workers, community participation workers, helpers of ICDS etc have been ignored .

He rued that provisions were made for the implementation of recommendations of the 6th Pay Commission in the proposals of the financial statement for the current year.

He further said that zero deficit budget too appears to be a myth as the state government largely depends upon central assistance.

Meanwhile he demanded regularization of adhoc and contractual employees and daily wagers and increase in retirement age up to 60 years besides reduction in qualifying service for pensionary benefits to 21 years and inclusion of 100 percent instead of 50 percent services as daily wagers for pensionary benefits.

Dy Advocate General's death condoled KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: All J&K SC/ST Lawyers Forum has condoled the untimely death of Deputy Advocate General, Ajeet Singh Dogra in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Choudhary Ghulam Rasool Asghar.

While paying rich tributes to the departed soul, Choudhary said that Dogra was the founder member of the Forum.

ABGMJK to hold protest demonstration on Feb 11 KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: Akhil Bharatiya Gurjar Mahasabha Jammu and Kashmir (ABGMJK) has criticised Vasundra Raje government of Rajasthan , for what it alleged, callous attitude towards the Gurjar community community in the state.

Expressing solidarity with the Gurjars of Rajasthan, (ABGMJK) state president Eshfaq-ur-Rehman while addressing a press conference alleged that the discrimination was being meted out to the community everywhere in the country.

Rehman announced that Akhil Bhartiya Gurjar sabha would boycott BJP everywhere in the country for ignoring the interests of the community.

He slammed Raje government for not granting Scheduled Tribe status to the community in Rajasthan.

He alleged that instead of review of SRO 294, the government was adopting dilly-dallying tactics.

Rehman advocated for the political reservation in favour of community and also demanded immediate restoration of reservation roster to ensure justice to the Gurjar Samaj as well as Scheduled Caste community in J&K.

Rehman also, that on February 11, Akhil Bhartiya Gurjar Mahasabha would hold protest demonstration in front of Raj Bhavan Jammu in favour of their demands.

Army organises medical camp KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: As a part of its military civic action programme 16 Sikh Light Infantry under the aegis of Army's Dah Divison organized a medical camp at Kalsian today.

A team of army doctors and medical representatives attended the camp; free medicines were distributed to the patients.

An information centre for AIDS awareness and anti natal counselling and check up was also established there.

Odissi dance recital in JU KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21 SPIC MACAY (Society for promotion of Indian classical music and culture amongst youth) in association with the department of Students Welfare (DSW) University of Jammu organized a lecture cum demonstration on Odissi dance by Padamashree Rajna Gauhar at General Zorawar Singh auditorium, today.

Briefing about the Odissi dance Gauhar said that it combines story telling and pure dance in lyrical movements and sculpturesque poses and added that it is characterized by the triple bend pose called Tribhangi requiring three bends at the neck, waist and knee reflecting exquisite charm and grace.

She said that Odissi can be seen in the caves, sculptures and the embellishments of the Hindu, Jain and Buddhist temples dating back to second century B.C.

and further added that a dancer must a smiling face and should have knowledge of rhythm and music.

She started her performance with Manglacharan in stylized movements in prayer to the Shiva, the creator of dance.

NC seeks cash relief for border migrants KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: Members of National Conference (NC) today demanded the release of ration and cash relief which has been stopped by the J&K government since 2005 for the border migrants.

PRM alleges Jammu's neglect KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 21: People's Revoltionary Movement (PRM) has expressed concern over the continuous neglect of Jammu region by successive governments and termed the present government has surpassed all records of inefficiency, corruption and other areas of governance.

Addressing media persons, here today President PRM Rajinder Jamwal came down heavily upon the present coalition government for its misleading and exploitative policies and charged government claims of good governance can be seen only on papers with no visible results on ground and assurances in the common minimum programme are yet to be realized.

Referring to growing unemployment, corruption, inadequate development, failure to redress the refugees issue and other areas in which the government has been a complete failure, he said.
