Minor's rape accused arrested
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, July 12: Police claimed to have arrested a seventeen year old boy, who was absconding after allegedly raping a seven year old girl in Ramnagar area of Udhampur district, on Thursday.
The accused, identified as Ajay Kumar was rounded up by a police team, when he was trying to board a Jammu bound bus at General Bus Stand, Udhampur this morning, official reports said.
A resident of village Badole in Ramnagar the accused, who is said to be seventeen year old, was absconding after committing rape of a minor girl in his neighbourhood on Tuesday.
The victim was reportedly battling between life and death in District Hospital (DH) Udhampur, where she was shifted keeping in view her critical condition.
Dairy owners threaten to stop milk supply in open market KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, July 12: In a bid to mount pressure on government to accede to their demand of enhancement of prices, the Dairy owners and Gujjars associated with milk production have threatened to stop the supply in the open market, saying that the sale has already been stopped in Kathua district.
The community representatives, addressing a press conference here threatened to extend the decision of withholding the supply to the entire state if government would not accede to their demands.
Putting forth the demand, they said the people, particularly Gujjars who are traditionally associated with the rearing of cattle, are finding it hard to carry on the age old occupation in the backdrop of unprecedented hike in prices of commodities and services required for the production of milk, including, cattle feed, medicines transportation, cost of living.
They said that the present price fixed by Consumer Affiars Department is far less than the cost incurred on the production.
The Chairman Gujjar Association Jamil Choudhary said that the Gujjar milk producers have unanimously decided to stop supply in local market and sell their produce in the neighbouring states.
General Secretary of the Association, Vikrant Dogra said that the supply of milk is continuously decreasing as with each passing day people associated with dairy production are leaving this occupation for finding it very difficult to survive in the backdrop of increasing costs of production.
He said if the price is not fixed keeping as per the cost of production and the nutritional value, the dairy industry would not survive any long in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
