Motorist dies in road accident

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 18: A motorcyclist died while another sustained serious injuries in a road-mishap on National Highway at Badli in Vijaypur.

The deceased person has been identified as Vipan, 30, son of Charan Dass resident of Badali Vijaypur.

The injured person has been identified as Kuldeep son of Madan resident of Tarror.

Police said that the road mishap happened when a speedy scooterist hit a motorbike on National Highway at Badali in Vijaypur, which resulted into the on spot death of Vipan, bike rider and his companion who was sitting behind him Kuldeep sustained serious injuries.

Locals with the help of police rushed the injured person to the nearby hospital for treatment.

Later, Kuldeep was referred to the Government Medical College, Jammu for further treatment.

Police has taken cognizance and case has been registered in the concerned police station.

NMC demands implementation of 6th pay commission: report KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Jan 18: President of National Mazdoor Conference Subash Shastri has demanded implementation of sixth pay commission in favour of state government employees and pensioners.

Addressing a meeting of NMC workers at Salehar, Shastri appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take an early decision on this issue before Republic Day so that the employees and pensioners get some relief from the economic hardships.

He also raised other demands of the employees included regularization of daily wagers of Rural Development, Sericulture, Floriculture an Power Development Department, releasing Cola installments in favour od Public Sector Employees, release of salary of motivators working in the IWDP project Akhnoor, continuance of service of Prism men of revenue department, timely payment of wages of daily wagers and enhancement of the daily wagers from Rs.

200 per month, release of 67 months wages of workers of Trikuta Hills Project of Social Forestry Department, release pending salary of Mallis cum Chowkidars of RDD and providing gardener's training to causal labour of Floriculture department.

Others who addressed the meeting included Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Barkat Ram, Madan Lal, Kasturi Lal, Puran Chand, Sat Pal, Ram Lal, Sukh Dev Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Geeta Devi and Mohan Lal Sharma.

Free eye camp KT NEWS SERVICE UDHAMPUR, Jan 18: A one day free eye camp was organised today by Rotary Club Udhampur in collaboration with Udhampur Rotary Eye and General Welfare Foundation.

Chander Prakash, Deputy Chief Medical Officer and secretary Blindness Control Society, Udhampur inaugurated the camp and expressed their satisfaction over the arrangements made for holding the camp.

They stressed to arrange such camps in remote areas so that needy and poor people are benefited by it.

More than 260 patients were examined by Dr.

S P Sharma, Director and ophthalmic surgeon.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives of Rotary Club that would continue to organise such camps in hospital to prevent blindness and D N Sharma, chairman Rotary Eye and ENT hospital Udhampur, assured full cooperation to rotary club Udhampur with eye aliments which are required to treat to prevent blindness.

Suresh Gutpa and S P Sharma also extended thanks to the staff member of the hospital for attending the camp.

Meanwhile, a free medical camp was organised by the Bee ENN Charitable hospital at Gajansoo wherein 285 patients s were examined and were provided free medicines.
