Mufti distributes cheques to houseboat owners
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 11: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syed, today distributed Loan Cheques aggregating Rs.
4.00 crores among 125 Houseboat owners, sanctioned by J&K Bank under Govt.
of India package for revival of tourism in the state.
Under the said scheme 1084 cases of Houseboat owners have been identified by the Tourism Department and J&K Bank shall be financing 994 cases.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister appreciated the role, the J&K Bank has been playing in improving the economic conditions of the state, besides associating with poverty alleviation programmes and creating employment avenues/opportunities in the state.
He mentioned that grant of loans to houseboat owners is a step in the right direction and hoped that J&K Bank shall continue to play its sole in bolstering the economy of the state.
On this occasion G.H Mir, Minister of Tourism in his address appreciated the management and staff of the Bank for the consistent excellent performance, the bank has been recording and stated that J&K Bank is not only the face but reflects the identity of the J&K State.
Earlier, M.Y Khan, Chairman of the Bank while welcoming the participants gave brief details/description of the role, the bank has been playing for the economic development of the state.
He stated that over 79 percent of the finance lent by the banking system to various sectors of economy agriculture, trade and industry of J&K State has been contributed by J&K Bank and assured the audience that Bank will continue to play its pro-active role in the development of economy and in revival of tourism and other sectors of the state.
