Muzaffarabad service fetches SRTC Rs 8.71 lakhs

KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Mar 16: The State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) has earned a revenue of Rs 8.71 lakh, from Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service upto February this year.

This was revealed in a statement by a spokesman of press information bureau (PIB) here today.

SRTC is operating 19 seater four AC stag coaches on 170 Km Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road, upto Kaman Post fortnightly.

Initially Rs 600 were charged per head which included lunch, porter charges etc.

However, after October 8 earthquake Rs 500 is now being charged per head.

Thousands of members of the divided families have traveled in the bus to reach their relatives.

SRTC carries up to the Kaman Bridge the passengers traveling to Muzaffarabad from Srinagar.

SRTC vehicles also pick up at Kaman Bridge the passengers traveling from Muzaffarabad to Srinagar.

The passengers traveling from Srinagar get down near the bridge and walk on foot to cross the bridge.

After crossing the bridge they board the PAK buses on their onward journey to Muzaffarabad.

The passengers traveling from Muzaffarabad get down from PAK buses as they reach near Kaman Bridge.

After crossing over, they board the SRTC vehicles to reach Srinagar.

The bus service was disrupted for some time after the earthquake damaged the road and Kaman Bridge.

Instead a joint relief point was opened near the damaged bridge at LoC.

A causeway was set up to enable the people to cross the nallah.

Not only people used the joint relief point but relief was also exchanged for some time.

Later the bus service was resumed and the damaged bridge reconstructed.
