NCC clinches Tickoo-Drabu cricket title

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, May 3: National Cricket Club (NCC) claimed the 3rd edition of Tickoo-Drabu cricket tournament trophy defeating Kishen Chand Cricket Club (KCCCby one wicket in the final match , which was played today at MA Stadium, here today.

Batting first after winning the toss, KCCC bowled out for 182 runs in 39.2 overs of the 40 overs match.

In reply, NCC chased the total making 186 runs with one wicket in hand.

Bandeep Singh was top scorer with 60 runs while Surinder and Shashi contributed 33 and 23 runs respectively.

From NCC, Inderjeet Singh clinched three wickets, followed by Shafkat Baba and Deepak Manhas, who shared two each.

Later, NCC overhauled the opponent total in last over of the innings with one wicket in hand.

Inderjeet Singh (52) and Kavaljeet Singh (51) hit superb half centuries.

Rohit Bhat played slow but valuable innings of 30 runs.

Manik Gupta was most successful bowler from KCCC with three for 33 in eight overs.

Ashok and Sameer took two wickets each.

Inderjeet Singh was declared man of the match in the final for his match winning innings.

The final was officiated by Vinod Koul and B K Tickoo while Vijay Raina was scorer.

For his all-round performance, Ravi Pandita (143 runs and four wickets) was adjudged man of the tournament while best batsman trophy went to Bandeep Singh, who made 179 runs.

Pankaj Sasan bagged the best bowler trophy for his 12 wickets and the best fielder title was secured by Deepak Singh Manhas.

For his maiden ton, Ram Dayal was awarded a special prize.

Former Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma was chief guest in the valedictory function, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies besides other individual prizes.

Prominent among those present were M L Nehru, C L Chrangoo, Ramesh Mahajan, Ashutosh Sharma, Ashinder Koul, H K Raval, A K Tickoo, Ravi Kant and Ankush Abrol.
