NMC demands release of DA installment
KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, July 22: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has appealed to the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to release the pending installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) in favour of the central and the state government employees.
Addressing Sunderbani a workers rally at Suderbani in Rajouri district, the president of the NMC Subash Shastri, while giving facts and figures, said that the price index which was 5.69 percent in December 31, 2006 now has increased to 5.84 percent.
Shastri said that the purchasing power of rupee fell by 40 paisa to 23.81 paisa in December 2006.
He further added that the prices of essential commodities have increased manifold, adding that keeping in view increasing inflation, government should release DA installment in favour of employees and pensioners at the earliest.
He also urged Dr Singh to declare Jammu and Srinagar as "B-1 cities" of the state.
Pleading for sanctioning Rs ten thousand crores as special package to the state, Shastri requested Prime Minister for his personal intervention in the matter and grant this package at the earliest.
